The Arizona Health Information Exchange (HIE) Marketplace helps providers learn about the secure exchange of health information and their options for participation. While many providers have taken the important first step of adopting electronic health records (EHRs), optimization of EHRs requires that providers have an electronic connection for secure and private health information exchanges with other providers and with hospitals, labs and pharmacies. In facts, the recently announced proposed rule for Meaningful Use Stage 2 requires that providers exchange patient health information with other providers on an ongoing basis.
