What Arizona Regional Extension Center (REC) members say about the program…
It was a pleasure to work with Rouzanna [Health Informatics Specialist]; we did our attestation to Medicare for Meaningful Use and I would say that she is very knowledgeable, very patient and hardworking; she is also very resourceful as she knew who to contact regarding the immunization registry issues. My experience with Rouzanna and REC as a whole was awesome and I would definitely use REC next year and request for Rouzanna even though I have to pay for your services; It is worth the money and time.
Susan Yu, Office Manager for Dr. Antonio Yu's Office, Surprise
Dr. Yu was the first REC member to successfully attest to Meaningful Use.
I believe my office has a better medical home, as it now knows when a patient has missed a follow up appointment, and I have alarms for certain high risk labs and x-rays. The reports that I can obtain are a lot more educational for me. I can put notes or reminders of labs or drugs that help me make a better and safer recommendation (dosing, when the labs should be drawn etc.). I think my documentation is better and will support my coding better.
Dr. Amy Shoptaugh, All About Kids Pediatrics, Tempe
Dr. Shoptaugh was the first REC member to go from a paper to electronic health record system.
[The REC] is a professional organization that helps with Meaningful Use, making sure we do everything correctly … [I would recommend the REC to others] because of their knowledge and readiness with a defined plan of action.
Cindy Elliott, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Abundant Health Family Practice, Tucson
State approved requirements for reimbursement are obtuse and confusing. We need guidance through the entire process. We need wisdom and believe that the REC can provide that service … requirements are evolving and confusing and direct client care is priceless. Arizona requirements with nurse practitioners are different but the REC comprehends our needs and we have confidence to push forward through the requirements.
Rachel Gordon, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Abundant Health Family Practice, Tucson
My experience [with the REC] has been excellent. We have been working with James Schmoke, and he has been very helpful and supportive. He has provided needed information to assist in meeting the Meaningful Use guidelines.
Rochelle Mohamed, Nurse Practitioner, Yuma
We joined the REC because we wanted to receive unbiased input from people who knew what was necessary to help us meet Meaningful Use. Although we had already planned to purchase an EHR system, the stimulus incentive is another component that we do not want to miss out on. The staff at the REC has been very helpful in researching some concerns we had and guiding us through the process.
