The Arizona Regional Extension Center (REC) partners with the Health IT vendor community to bring additional value to Arizona health care providers through the REC Vendor Alliance Program.
REC Vendor Alliance Program – Value to Health Care Providers
The REC Vendor Alliance Program offers guidance and direction to Arizona
health care providers allowing them the
freedom and flexibility to select the EHR vendor best suited for their
practice.
In November 2011, the REC published a list of vendors that have applied for and been accepted to participate in the REC Vendor Alliance Program. Vendors are categorized into one of three tiers:
Tier 1
Vendors in this tier:
-
Offer preferred pricing to REC
members;
- Meet Stage 1 Meaningful Use
certification;
- Meet additional Arizona
interoperability requirements;
- Participate as REC Educational
Affiliates; and
- Have a significant base of installed
EHRs in Arizona.
Tier 2
Vendors in this tier:
- Meet Stage 1 Meaningful Use
certification;
- Meet additional Arizona
interoperability requirements;
- Participate as REC Educational
Affiliates in some instances; and
- Have a growing base of installed EHRs
in Arizona.
Tier 3
Vendors in this tier:
- Meet Meaningful Use Stage 1
certification, and
- Work to meet Arizona-specific
interoperability requirements.

Non-EHR Vendor Directory
Due to frequent
requests, the REC also offers guidance in selecting vendors in additional areas
such as HIPAA privacy and security, IT managed services, hardware, network
infrastructure, EHR interfacing and interoperability services, lab interfacing
infrastructure and EHR financing. This guidance allows providers the freedom
and flexibility to find the solution that is best suited for their practice.
This summer, the REC received applications from vendors
who sought to participate in the Vendor Alliance Program. After a review
process, accepted non-EHR vendors have been added to the online, member-only
Directory.

Arizona HIE Marketplace
The Arizona Health Information Exchange (HIE) Marketplace is a program established to assist any willing Arizona health care provider in identifying viable options to participate in the secure exchange of health information. The first phase of the HIE Marketplace will review and approve health information exchange (HIE) options provided by a group of health information service providers (HISPs). For providers, the program debut will be in mid-April with more information
becoming available at that time regarding HIE options.
The HIE Marketplace is administered by Arizona Health-e Connection (AzHeC) under the direction the State of Arizona and the Arizona Strategic Enterprise Technology office (ASET).
If you are looking to find out more about the Arizona HIE Marketplace, including timelines and the application process, please visit the Arizona Health-e Connection website.
